Hi friends! You have found your way to my page and are probably wondering a little bit about who I am. For starters, I spent my childhood tucked away in books filled with characters of endless courage and acts of bravery. I dreamed of one day seeing my own name on the spine of a paperback. Yet, practicality seemed to stand in the way of my big dream. Instead of pursuing journalism, I chose a major better suited for a career in the rural Appalachian Mountains. I never regretted the decision to stay in my hometown, but even though my career path led me to rewarding and purpose-filled work, a piece of me still felt missing.
In 2015, I created a motivational blog inspired to uplift women and soon after I became pregnant with my son. Sandwiched between post-partum depression and sleep depravity, the blog fell to the wayside. So in my moment of defeat, I put down the pen with no intentions of picking it back up. Then the COVID-19 pandemic changed my perspective in many ways. The fire that I thought had completely dwindled within me began to burn again. I started writing, but it wasn’t in a way I expected. This time my writing came in the form of a children’s book, Danny Lee Dreams.
I used to think our struggles only served to weigh us down, hindering our ability to soar. I am now finding that without the struggle, I may have never had the courage to leave the ground.
I share my small corner of the world with the most selfless and kind human, my husband, Corey, and our son, Liam.
Thanks for visiting my page! Stick around and make yourself at home.
XO April
